We are so pleased that you have found our website and we hope that you will decide to come along either to a Sunday Service or to one of our regular activities as shown below:
We really look forward to meeting you 🙂
We are a small friendly Baptist Church with a BIG heart where everyone is welcome - check out this video
Our Church family ranges from our youngest twin boys born in December 2019 to our oldest who is 100 - and many of our family are very new to church life!
Our aim is to open the doors and love people and our guiding verse for 2022 is Matthew 11:28
We are open for Sunday services @ 10.45am every Sunday followed by refreshments. Our Communion service is usually the 1st Sunday of each month. Everyone is welcome 🙂
We are also continuing to record a service for those unable to attend and this is available on YouTube or via DVD on request.
Godly Play is the way that we share the Gospel message with our younger children which Arnie leads fortnightly with something for our older children 'seniors' on the opposite Sunday - although our seniors are also welcome to join in with Godly Play.
Arnie has produced many Godly Play stories on line which can be viewed on our YouTube Channel along with other specials by Duggy Dug Dug!
Our flower festival is a wonder to behold with amazing arrangements created by local people and our two local schools.
The Saturday coincides with the SSJ Drive Sales so the village is super busy - we are open for the 3 days serving light refreshments.
The weekend ends with our service @ 3.30pm - everyone welcome 🙂
The popular Summer Church Club run by volunteers from both churches in Sutton St James is taking place again this year on the Tuesdays of the school holidays from 10am - 12 noon. 🙂
This is for children up to and including School Year 6 accompanied by a responsible adult. £2.50 per child.
Renew SSJ is part of the national Renew Wellbeing Network of 'quiet shared spaces where it is ok not to be ok.'
Come and enjoy a 'real coffee' and a chat, maybe a game of draughts or scrabble, enjoy doing a jigsaw or playing whist with the Good Companions on Mondays.
Closed on Bank Holidays.
Come along and get creative!
Every Wednesday between 10am - 12 noon @ Renew SSJ, Chrissy and local crafter Claire Dobson will be sharing a topical craft for everyone to try.
The craft will then be available for the rest of the week so why not pop in and give it a try - over a cuppa of course 🙂
A Tuesday term-time activity aimed particularly at parents who drop the children off at school - but as usual everyone is welcome.
Toys are available for pre-school children and gentle crafts are available for everyone to enjoy.
Why not pop in for a cuppa and a chill out!
Renew SSJ Youth Cafe takes place every Friday in term time from 6.30pm - 8pm at SSJBC for those in school years 6 - 13.
A registration form will need to be completed by a parent or guardian on the first visit.
Cost £2 per young person + money to spend at the tuck shop.
The Community Choir meets weekly at 7pm on Thursday evenings at SSJBC led by Ian. There will be no choir on 7th July due to our Flower Festival.
This is an amateur choir for people of all ages and abilities who just enjoy singing so come along and have some fun! 🙂
Something for the men! Come and enjoy a full English breakfast @ 8.30am - for fellas of any age 🙂
No set charge but donations greatly appreciated
Please let Sue know if you plan to come by the Thursday before the breakfast - so we don't run out of eggs!
Our popular 3 course Community Lunches will recommence on 30th June. The lunch is at midday and is priced at £7 per person.
Future dates as follows (usually the last Thursday of month)
Everyone welcome but advance booking essential 🙂
At SSJBC we collect items all year round which many of us throw away - these help us to support two very good causes Air Ambulance and BMS World Mission.
We will also be collecting again for the Food Bank for harvest time 2022 - simply drop your items in any weekday between 10am - 12 noon!
Please do support us if you are able 🙂
At SSJBC we are committed to creating a safe and rewarding environment where all are welcome to come, hear and experience the Gospel message.
As such we have a robust Safeguarding Policy based on Baptist Union guidelines to ensure that everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
